I am a greenwood worker based in Herefordshire. I have been using green woodworking methods to produce furniture since 2008. I make unique functional pieces of work that embrace the natural beauty of timber and the craft of using hand tools.
I found my way to Green Woodwork while studying Sustainable Woodland Management at Worcester University. I began by volunteering at Clisset Wood where renowned furniture maker and teacher Gudrun Leitz has her workshop.
I have gained a practical knowledge of woodland management through the work I’ve done with Paul Morton at Moreton Wood. I still spend time in Moreton Wood harvesting Wych Elm bark for my frame seating.
As well as making my own commissions I also work at Hereford Community Farm, a project that works with adults with learning difficulties and mental heath problems. At the farm I am able to pass on my skills to people with additional needs who use green woodwork for therapeutic reasons. The work that is done at the Community Farm ensures that people who can really benefit from this country craft are able to access the skills.
